What looks like a sustainability plan actually has a different goal: preserving jobs. This is evident from, among other things, a footnote by Erik Bos, team leader of the economics department of the province, on a draft version of the plan. “Consequences for employment is [het] most important, not the energy transition,” he scribbles in the margin. Under the heading “Goal pressure cooker”, he repeats at the sentence “The goal is to draw up a plan with the ambitions of Drenthe for the energy transition”, in the margin: “Work transition is target!”
