‘I’m about to’ and ‘I want to tell you a secret’: 18-year-old gunman had bizarre social media conversation before causing carnage | Texas shooting

Salvador Ramos, the 18-year-old gunman who inflicted a massacre at a Texas elementary school, shared some photos of his weapons on social media just days before he was slated to strike. In one of the photos, he even tagged a girl he took math with. “I want to tell you a little secret,” he wrote.

Ramos shared photos of the two guns he bought on social media. A former classmate – who wishes to remain anonymous – told CNN that four days ago, Ramos suddenly sent him a photo of his rifle and a backpack full of magazines. “Dude, why do you have this?” asked the friend. “Don’t worry,” Ramos had replied.

Now a bizarre conversation has also surfaced in which Ramos tells a girl that he has a “secret”.

Ramos (May 12): “You’re going to share the pictures of my weapons.”

Girl: “What?” and “What do your weapons have to do with me?”

Ramos (May 20): “I just wanted to tag you.”

Girl: “I’m so confused.”

Ramos: “Just be thankful I tagged you.”

Girl: “No, it’s scary.”

Ramos (yesterday): “I’m about to…”

Ramos: “I’ll tell you before 11 o’clock, but you have to answer. I have a secret I want to tell you.”

After the deadly shooting, Ramos’s former classmate learned what his hideous “secret” had been. She then shared the conversation with Ramos on Instagram. “I reacted because I was scared of him,” she says. “I wish I could have convinced him not to commit his crime, but I didn’t know.”

Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, has since removed the alleged account of the shooter from its platform.
