Already in the summer of 2020, Gzuz caused a stir with a court case for several violations of the weapons law, attempted theft and bodily harm. At that time, the 187 street gang rapper attracted attention with his provocative behavior in the courtroom and showed little understanding and cooperation. In the meantime, he even had to be excluded from the court hearing.
At that time, Gzuz was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and a fine of 300 daily rates of 1,700 euros each. At that point, he was already on probation. At the time, his defense attorney Christopher Posch had demanded acquittal on all charges and, like the rapper himself, was convinced that the case against any other accused would have been dropped. Even then, the lawyer had announced that he wanted to appeal the verdict.
On Monday, Gzuz is back at the Hamburg Regional Court, a year and a half after the last trial up to that point. This time, the 33-year-old, whose real name is Kristoffer Jonas Klauß, seems to want to be more cooperative.
At the beginning of the trial, judge Nicole Dietrich summarizes what Gzuz is accused of: During a search of his apartments, a total of 17 grams of marijuana was found in a mason jar, in a can, on a plate, in a plastic bag, and a smoked joint in the bathroom, April 2 .5 grams of crystal meth and a so-called Polish firecracker under the sofa, reports “Spiegel Online”.
Now the rapper had his lawyer read a statement in which he comments on the allegations. At the time of the search, he was smoking pot, but he was already living with his fiancé, the mother of their two daughters, he said. He didn’t use the apartment himself, but a friend. He is said to have admitted that the drugs belonged to him. Only the substance in a plastic bag could have belonged to Gzuz himself.
On February 13, 2020, he is said to have tried to steal an oxygen cylinder from an ambulance at a gas station. Now Gzuz admitted the incident in court, noting that he was very drunk and didn’t threaten anyone, nor did he want to steal the bottle. It was a kind of “boy prank”, said the rapper.
He also comments on another incident: On New Year’s Eve 2019, Gzuz was filmed firing several shots from a blank pistol. The fact that these recordings ended up on the Internet was not what he wanted.
Gzuz is said to have claimed that he was not aware at the time that he was not allowed to carry any kind of weapon. The weapons found during another search belonged to his father-in-law.
In the case of a fight with a female fan in March 2020, Gzuz now admitted to having hit the young woman in the face. She asked him for a picture, he felt harassed by her, but the woman ran after him. Gzuz immediately apologized to her and later paid her compensation for pain and suffering. The woman then withdrew her complaint. He was still convicted of assault, which the rapper does not understand.
Ulf Dreckmann, who represents Gzuz in this trial, also accused the magistrate from the first trial of only wanting to bring Gzuz up and sentence him.
When asked by the judge what was going on in his life at that point, he said: “I drank a lot, did a lot of nonsense.” failed,” Gzuz continued. In this respect, the judgment of the first instance made an impression on him. “It was like a break.”
The appointment hearing is scheduled for seven days until mid-February. In addition, this time a psychiatric report is to be drawn up and it is also to be examined whether Gzuz was under the influence of intoxicants, which could lead to a reduction in his criminal responsibility.
