In recent weeks it has been hard for train passengers on the route between Groningen and Zwolle. Due to extensive work, the timetable was adjusted, resulting in significant delays. It also turned out that far too little train replacement bus transport had been arranged.
If all goes well, the problems will be resolved as of this Monday. But in recent days and weeks there has been considerable criticism of the Dutch Railways (NS). Due to the lack of alternative transport, quite a few travelers were unable to depart from Groningen at the desired time.
Detours via Leeuwarden also resulted in significant delays due to a lack of trains and personnel. The Arriva train between Groningen and Leeuwarden was also unable to cope with the supply of travelers. There are stories of people who were delayed for hours.
Last week, the company apologized for the chaos that many train passengers had experienced since May 7 and will not be fined by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management for the shortage of buses.
