Hockey: HC Tilburg promotes to the big league at the expense of Oranje-Rood

After 13 years at the highest level, the curtain fell for the women of Orange-Red on Sunday. The hockey players from Eindhoven lost the third and decisive game in the play-outs of Tilburg and therefore relegated from the Dutch big league.

The two previous games ended in a draw and had to be decided by shoot-outs. That was the case again on Sunday, after goals from Cis Ypelaar and Lisa Post. Just like in game one, Tilburg took those shoot-outs better. Maddie Hunch, the experienced English goalkeeper in Tilburg service, played a leading role in this.

The Tilburg women’s hockey, led by the leaders Ageeth Boomgaard and Maartje Paumen, will take over from Oranje-Rood in the Dutch big league next season.
