Crisis Cross back in Veeningen after two years of absence

After two years of sitting still due to the corona crisis, Crisis Cross will make its comeback in Veeningen this weekend. In total, about 7,000 visitors came to the festival. Today is the last day of the cross, with lots of bikes, music and beer.

It has now been 10 years since Crisis Cross saw the light of day. The initiative came from Joshua de Boer, Floris van Laar and Henny Dekker, and was intended as fun entertainment during the economic crisis. Despite the bad weather at the time, the first edition attracted about a thousand visitors. That number has risen sharply over the years.

With an extensive music program and a campsite with about 400 guests, the Crisis Cross is much more than just a game of racing on motorbikes. There is something for everyone, although most visitors this Sunday really come for the cross.

Also Ronald Zouthof from Zuidwolde. Together with his son he comes for an afternoon to look at motorbikes. “I’ll add some music this afternoon.” In any case, it won’t be too late. “It was getting late yesterday, so I don’t think I’ll be staying very long.”

Wessel Bernsen from Barger-Compascuum is today at Crisis Cross for the first time. “I like it quite well, I must say. The weather is nice, good food and drink and there are beautiful women.”

Bernsen will certainly take a look at the cross, but thinks the party around it is much more important. “That’s number 1 anyway.”
