The concept created to test electric units destined for competitions has been unveiled. A single-make parallel to the Carrera Cup that will also serve as a laboratory for the future road models of the 718 Cayman and Boxster with zero emissions
Combining the base of the GT4 RS Clubsport with the ultra-powerful electric motors of the Mission R, the result is called the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 E-Performance. Almost 1,100 hp of power, to be exploited in a single-make for electric cars parallel to the Carrera Cup, but probably also as know-how for the future 718 Cayman and Boxster destined, as announced by the house, for uncompromising electrification. In the simulations the E-Performance showed a constant power of 450 kW (612 hp) for 30 minutes, the duration of a Carrera Cup race. In terms of lap times and top speed, the 718 Cayman GT4 E-Performance is at the on par with the performance of the current 911 GT3 Cup of the 992 generation.

Compared to the GT4 RS Clubsport, the E-Performance sports more musculature underlined by the 14 cm more width and more generous diameter tires, but there are over 6,000 new components compared to the thermal. The engines, of Taycan origin, reach a peak power of 1,088 hp (800 kW) to be exploited in qualifying, with prevalence on the rear axle. The 900 Volt battery, as mentioned, is able to guarantee adequate performance for competitions for 30/40 minutes, without loss of performance. The merit goes to the new oil cooling system, also intended for electric engines. In about 15 minutes it is possible to restore from 5 to 80% of energy in the three battery packs. The debut of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 E-Performance is scheduled for June 23 at Goodwood, followed by a world tour in the name of sustainability – Tour # race2zero – which will reach the main European, American and Asian circuits. “With the Mission R, we have shown how Porsche envisions sustainable racing for customers in the future. The 718 Cayman GT4 ePerformance now demonstrates that this vision works impressively on the track” – comments Matthias Scholz, project manager for racing cars GT – “We are very excited about the results because a single-make cup with electric racing cars would be an important addition to our racing program for existing customers.”
