Nearly 900 damage reports after thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday | NOW

Interpolis has received 863 damage reports until Saturday afternoon after the thunderstorms of Thursday and Friday, the insurer reports to NU.nl.

In Gelderland and Overijssel, code orange applied for hours on Thursday afternoon due to heavy thunderstorms. Earlier in the day, the KNMI issued code orange for North Brabant and Limburg for the same reason.

A day later, the weather institute announced code orange in South Limburg because of the risk of large hailstones and wind gusts of 90 to more than 100 kilometers per hour.

Most damage reports to Interpolis were received on Thursday. They mainly came from North Brabant and Gelderland, a spokesperson for the insurer said. On Friday, Interpolis mainly received reports from Limburg.

Most reports concern damage to homes, such as water damage as a result of roof tiles that have blown loose, damage from falling branches and solar panels that have come loose.
