26 new corona infections in Beijing: 13,000 residents of residential complex in quarantine | Abroad

About 13,000 residents of a residential complex in the Chinese capital Beijing have been quarantined since Friday night after the confirmation of 26 new infections with the corona virus. This is reported by the Chinese health authorities.

The coronavirus outbreak occurred in the Nanxinyuan residential complex in southeastern Beijing. With 26 new infections identified, authorities decided to move all 13,000 residents to hotels during the night from Friday to Saturday and quarantine them for at least seven days.

China’s capital is facing its worst coronavirus outbreak since the start of the pandemic. The omikron variant of the virus has already infected at least 1,300 people. Many restaurants, schools and tourist sites are closed.
