Benjamin Siegrist will leave Dundee United after a total of 145 games (52 clean sheets). The 30-year-old Swiss brought the club from the Scottish coastal town back into European competition this season after a ten-year break, next season he will start in the Conference League – but then without a winning record.
“Of course I leave Dundee with a crying eye. I’ve played most of my career’s games for Dundee United and felt incredibly at home at the club and in the city from day one. A big thank you to every single United fan. Thanks to that incredible spirit and support, we managed to qualify for Europe this season. One thing is for sure, I won’t be playing for Dundee United again for the new season, but I will be watching the games on TV as a fan. Now I’m looking forward to a new, exciting challenge, although of course I don’t yet know where I’ll end up,” said the keeper to Transfermarkt.
There had recently been loose rumors in the English media about a transfer to Manchester United. The Glasgow Rangers are also said to be in talks with the 2009 U17 world champions.
