Cars damaged by rust emissions Vattenfall Velsen-Noord: “I’m fed up now”

Spots on the streets and roofs, damaged cars and what about health risks? Clean enough, residents of the Guldenwagenplantsoen enjoy the metals that descend ‘two or three times a year’ from the pipes of the Vattenfallcantrale in Velsen-Noord in the area. Also yesterday around six o’clock, half past six.

“Hot liquid substances and rust come out of the pipes on my car, windows and paint are burned in,” says Gilles Hendrikse. And as far as he is concerned, the limit has been reached, because it is certainly not the first time that the liquid emissions damage the streets and property of the residents of the Guldewagenplantsoen. Gilles: “I’ve been going through this for years, I’m tired of it now.”

Neighbor Simon Blom shares that opinion. “The value of my stuff will only continue to deteriorate because of this kind of misery. Now there is rust again. I can’t get it off the car with my nails.”

He sums up: “The paint of my wife’s fairly new car is already damaged, the neighbors have a brand-new car: the same story. And, for example, we have just placed a new roof on an aviary: also damaged. And how good do you think that it’s for our health?” Simon asks rhetorically.

So far, Simon is also not very happy with how things are being resolved. “Vattenfall has appointed an insurance expert, who must be impartial… well. When I say that the paint should actually be repainted, you get a receipt from the car wash and then he says: ‘First go a few times to to the cleaner.’ But that doesn’t make the paint any better.”

“But now it starts to rain, and then those places expand”, experience expert Simon told NH Nieuws around three o’clock today. “It didn’t get any better last time either. You see huge rust spots on the streets here, they just can’t get it off.”

And the street may not be so bad, but your own garden is. Blom: “That’s what I’m saying, I want to build a new terrace at my house… I’m not going to start it, because I’ve known the story for some time.”

According to Vattenfall, “a letter will be sent out to residents tonight, and a loss adjuster has gone into the neighborhood to assess the damage.” It will then be processed, a spokesperson said.

Happened more often

In a response, she states: “Corrosion particles have indeed been emitted from our power station in Velsen. This has happened more often in the past and various measures have been taken to prevent this. It also went well for a while, but unfortunately it was yesterday. happened again. Of course we find that very annoying for the residents.”

And the company promises to improve: “We are now going to do everything we can to see what further measures we can take to ensure that this does not happen again.”
