Germany celebrates Schützenfest against Italy – 13 goals

Fourth win in five games: After the emphatic victory against Italy, the DEB team can hardly be denied a place in the World Cup quarter-finals. Now it’s against the previously pointless bottom of the table.

Just one more victory on Sunday against Kazakhstan – and the German team is in the quarter-finals of the Ice Hockey World Championship. After the 9: 4 (4: 0, 2: 1, 3: 3) over Italy, coach Toni Söderholm’s team can hardly be denied a place in the top eight.

Germany have twelve points in Group A after five of seven games. Should France lose against Slovakia on Saturday (11.20 a.m.), Germany would even have qualified for the round of eight.

Alexander Karachun (6th, 43rd) with the first two World Cup goals of his career, Kai Wissmann (7th), Yasin Ehliz (14th, 42nd), Daniel Fischbuch (18th, 35th) with his two goals and three, follower Lukas Reichel (26th) in the power play and Samuel Soramies (58th) were successful for the selection of the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB). Tommaso Traversa (26′), Luca Frigo (48′), Daniel Mantenuto (50′) and Alex Petan (60′) scored for Italy, who are in acute danger of relegation as penultimate with a meager point from five games.
