Drama on the French coast: parents and daughter swept away by big wave | Abroad

The parents were walking on the dike with their twelve-year-old daughter on Thursday evening between six and half past six, when they were engulfed and swept away by the wave. About a hundred rescue workers, including firefighters, were deployed to find the family members. The parents were found around 7:30 p.m. They had a cardiac arrest and rescue services were unable to resuscitate them. The daughter’s lifeless body was recovered around 10 p.m.

The three other children of the family are safe and sound. They were not on the dike, but were nearby when the tragedy took place. The place where the family drama took place is known to people in the area, according to local authorities, and is not known to be dangerous.
