Despite the enormous housing shortage, Dutch municipalities issued fewer permits to build houses in the first quarter of 2022. In the first months of 2022, 16,600 homes were to be built. That is almost 13 percent less than in the same period last year. This is evident from figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
