‘Maestro’ concert for non-Celebrities: “I think it’s a bit scary”

You just have to dare: completely inexperienced take the baton (conductor baton) in your hand and lead an orchestra, while you also have an audience. Six candidates will get that ‘Maestro feeling’ on Friday in Zaandijk. The concept is freely taken from the well-known TV program, only the Harmonie NUEVO works with non-BN people. Also nice.

“I think it’s a bit scary”, candidate Mieke Rabbit confesses before going into her rehearsal. “Because I don’t have that much musical talent. But of course it will be fine. The orchestra helps me, we do it together.”

Judging by the words of the actual conductor of the orchestra, Betty Bakker, Mieke needn’t worry much. “Difficult”, she says about the piece that Mieke plays (Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty), “but look at how beautiful she looked. She looked like a dancer, nobody could go wrong. And the soloist too. thank you at the end dude!”

Ed de Bruin also stands in front of the orchestra during the concert. “I thought it was going well. But I also saw a lot of competition, haha. It’s great to be in front of such a beautiful orchestra, a great honor.”

The concert starts Friday evening at 8 p.m. in De Ontmoeting in Zaandijk (there are still tickets available). For more information click on this link.
