“Super Mario Ninja” benefits from opponent’s mistakes

Christian Balkheimer was actually already eliminated at the Power Tower, but in the end “Super Mario Ninja” made it into the grand finale (May 22 from 8:15 p.m. on RTL, RTL+ and in the sport.de live ticker).

The reason for this was a mistake by his opponent Marius Bender. For example, the 31-year-old did not grab the specified marking with both hands at the transition to the rope. In doing so, the man from Heidelberg broke the rules, meaning that Balkheimer, who was actually inferior, ultimately progressed.

Bender showed himself to be a fair sportsman and congratulated the veteran on reaching the final. “You’re actually the blatant one,” Balkheimer in turn praised his opponent.

In the previous rounds, the 31-year-old narrowly beat Ali Moussa and Benedikt Sigmund.

Schüßler, Scheibler and Kilian complete the final

In addition to Balkheimer, Arleen Schüßler, Sandro Scheibler and Lukas Kilian also reached the final.

Schüßler won her duel at the Power Tower against Alix Arndt. The former “Last Woman Standing” is one of the most experienced women at Ninja Warrior Germany and was in the final of the last regular season, for example. Schüßler’s life partner Benedikt Sigmund was eliminated in the second round on Sunday.

Scheibler, who was able to secure the additional bonus for the fastest preliminary round, won his Power Tower match against Marco Fausser.

In the last meeting of the evening, Kilian was allowed to celebrate. The 31-year-old kept Milan Schirowski at bay and was the first and only one to reach the buzzer.

What did the stages look like?

The first round started with the arrow jump. Via the jumping spoke with a pendulum trunk it went on to the hanging baskets. As always, the necessary balance was required for the chaos balls. Those who were also able to manage the ring hunt found themselves in front of the wall at the end.

The second stage started with the surf boards. The Hangel Mikado followed the springs. At the grid, the ninjas had to prove their grip before the chimney finally awaited.
