Police report that four people were seriously injured and one person died on the spot in the shooting incident in Laguna Woods, which has a population of 16,000. All victims were adults and were taken to hospital. Authorities have yet to say anything about the gunman’s possible motive.
The incident comes a day after the Buffalo shooting, New York. There, a white 18-year-old man opened fire on Saturday in a supermarket in a predominantly black neighborhood. Ten were killed and three injured. The gunman, according to authorities a right-wing extremist, is being charged with a racially motivated hate crime. Eleven of the thirteen victims were black Americans.
