A fatal shooting at a church in Laguna Woods, south of Los Angeles, California, left one person dead and several others injured on Sunday.
One of the victims died on the spot and at least four others were taken to hospital with serious injuries. There are no children among the victims. That is confirmed by the authorities of Laguna Woods.
At about 1:30 p.m. (local time), police received a report of a shooting at the Geneva Presbyterian Church. A suspect has been arrested and a weapon has been seized, police said. The shooter’s motive is not yet known.
The incident comes a day after the shooting at a supermarket in the city of Buffalo, New York. This makes it at least the second fatal mass shooting in the United States this weekend. On Saturday, an 18-year-old white man shot and killed 10 people in Buffalo. Another three people were injured. Eleven of the thirteen victims were black Americans.
