The very last press conference of Ajax coach Ten Hag: “It was a great journey”

Erik ten Hag says goodbye to Ajax with a satisfied feeling and a third national title in a row. The coach exchanges Ajax for Manchester United. After the match against Vitesse, Ten Hag gave his last press conference as head coach of Ajax.

“This is the end of a very nice journey that I experienced at Ajax, with the player group, the staff and the management,” said Ten Hag. “It was great. It has yielded a lot. Many titles, but also attractive football. The identity of Ajax has been confirmed and that gives a sense of satisfaction.”

Captain Dusan Tadic was brought to Amsterdam by Ten Hag in June 2018. “That we became champions with him every year. We have had so many beautiful moments together. Reached the semi-finals in the Champions League, won cups… it was a great pleasure to work with him”, Tadic answers when asked what his most beautiful memory of the Ten Hag era.

The replacement for Ten Hag is Alfred Schreuder. He previously worked at Ajax, as the right-hand man of Ten Hag. “The two best trainers I’ve had,” Tadic describes his outgoing and returning coaches. “Alfred is tactically great and a personality, he has everything. It is great and beautiful to work with him.”
