The corona incidence stagnated on Sunday. It was 377.6, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the Senate’s situation report. The previous day the value was 375.4.
The incidence indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been shown to have been newly infected with the corona virus in the past seven days.
233 new infections were reported for Berlin within one day. Since the beginning of the pandemic in spring 2020, just over a million infections have been registered in the capital.
However, experts assume that many corona cases are not recorded because positive rapid tests are not always followed by a PCR test. Only these are counted in the statistics. In addition, not all health authorities report their data on a daily basis, so there may be a delay, especially at weekends and at the beginning of the week.
There were no new deaths. A total of 4556 deaths related to corona infections have been counted in Berlin since the beginning of the pandemic.
The situation in the districts
Only two districts provided current figures on Sunday: Reinickendorf (+174) and Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf (+59).
► With the seven-day incidence, two districts are above the 500 mark. Hotspot is Marzahn-Hellersdorf with an incidence of 782.6, followed by Lichtenberg (504.1).
Spandau has the lowest incidence with 194.7.
The status of vaccinations
79.4 percent (previous day: 79.4) of Berliners have been vaccinated at least once. 75.5 percent (previous day: 75.5) have the basic immunization or are fully vaccinated. 60.9 percent (previous day: 60.9) have received a booster vaccination or have been boosted.
The Corona traffic light
In order to include a more meaningful indicator in the Corona traffic light, the relative change in the seven-day incidence was replaced by the hospitalization incidence. The seven-day incidence and the occupancy of the intensive care beds remain unchanged.
► According to the management report, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants – equivalent to the seven-day incidence for all of Berlin – is 375.6 – the traffic light is RED.
► The seven-day hospitalization incidence is 8.6 – the traffic light is RED.
This indicator shows how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were hospitalized after a corona infection within a week. The indicator is green when the value is below 4. From 4 the traffic light switches to yellow, at 8 to red.
► The utilization of the intensive care beds by corona patients is 4.5 percent – the traffic light is GREEN.
The yellow limit here is 5 percent, and this traffic light also turns red at 20 percent.
