Cottbus track cyclist Emma Hinze won her second gold medal at the Nations Cup. In Milton, Canada, the 24-year-old world champion prevailed against Canadian Olympic champion Kelsey Mitchell in the final of the sprint tournament on Friday evening. After finishing second in qualifying, Hinze easily won the final against Mitchell in two heats.
For Hinze it was already the second gold medal at the Nations Cup in Milton. The day before she had finished first in the team sprint alongside her Cottbus club colleague Lea Sophie Friedrich and Erfurt’s Pauline Grabosch. In the individual sprint on Friday, Friedrich finished fifth.
“It wasn’t a bad day for us”national coach Jan van Eijden was satisfied with the good placements of his drivers. “Emma was very confident all day, drove a solid qualification and then improved from run to run. She was very strong in the semi-finals and in the final and acted tactically as well,” said the national coach.
