Singer-songwriter Amythyst Kiah is coming to Germany for two dates in November. In the Berlin private club and the Munich Kranhalle she will play intimate shows in front of a maximum of 400 people. She has the songs from her second album “Wary + Strange” with her, which represents a meeting of two very different worlds. Kiah combines “alt-rock, which sparked her passion for music, with the roots/old-time music, which has made her breakthrough in recent years,” according to her website.
Wary + Strange is political and personal
The American ROLLING STONE described the artist, who likes to play the banjo as well as the guitar, as “one of the great up-and-coming secrets of Americana”. Kiah is from Tennessee, where she also received her college degree. Part of this was also a bluegrass, old time and country music program that shaped her style. On “Wary + Strange,” she says she wove “political commentary and personal revelation” and addressed feelings of “grief, alienation, and self-acceptance.”
Her most famous song is “Black Myself”, which was nominated for a Grammy. With this title, the singer also made her debut on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.
