Rostock Seawolves are promoted to the BBL

The Rostock Seawolves made the promotion to the Basketball Bundesliga perfect.

In a dramatic game at Medipolis SC Jena, coach Christian Held’s team won thanks to a three-pointer by Tyler Nelson one second before the final siren with 77:76 (43:35) and thus achieved the decisive third victory in the fourth game of the semi-final series. In the final of the second division championship, the Mecklenburgers now meet the Tigers Tübingen.

The game remained even until the fifth minute. After that, the guests were able to slowly pull away and were at times ahead by nine points. Jena managed to close the gap again and again, but with the last action before the break Christopher John Carter ensured the 43:35 lead in the first half.

In the third quarter, the Seawolves were able to keep the hosts at bay, even leading by twelve points. But Jena fought back again, took the lead themselves and was still ahead with 76:74 five seconds before the end. Held then took a break, which was crowned with success. Because Nelson’s successful three with the last announced action meant victory and the acclaimed rise.
