Explorers and grave robbers – the exhibition takes you through the worlds of Schliemann

Maybe a book is to blame for everything. In the “World History for Children” the seven-year-old Heinrich Schliemann (1822-1890) discovered a drawing of the burning castle of Troy. This is said to have awakened the urge to explore in him. At least that is how Schliemann, who became known as an archaeologist, later portrayed it. An edition of the book marks the start of the exhibition “Schliemann’s Worlds. His life. His discoveries. His Myth” in the James-Simon-Galerie and the neighboring Neues Museum Berlin. From this Friday until November 6th, the stations of the cosmopolitan 200 years after his birth will be traced there with around 700 objects.
