Without Kahun to the Ice Hockey World Championships – five Berlin champions travel with them

Former NHL striker Dominik Kahun is out at short notice for the Ice Hockey World Championships in Finland. The 26-year-old from SC Bern is missing from the squad that the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) announced on Monday for the World Cup from May 13th to 29th. Kahun was ailing in preparation for the World Cup, but played in the 3-1 win against Austria in the last World Cup friendly on Sunday evening in Schwenningen. For national coach Toni Söderholm it is the next serious cancellation.

In return, five players from Champion Eisbären Berlin will travel to Helsinki on Tuesday: goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger, strikers Marcel Noebels and Leo Pföderl and defenders Jonas Müller and Kai Wissmann will strengthen the team. Attacker Manuel Wiederer, with whom the DEB had also planned, is not available.
