Injured cyclist does not want to go to hospital after accident in Broekland, police intervene | Raalte

It went wrong last night around 8 p.m. on the Horstweg in Broekland, in the municipality of Raalte. The victim drove his bicycle into a lamppost and then hit his head against that lamppost. The single-vehicle accident happened near the sports club. An air ambulance was called in and landed on the football field.

The man suffered head injuries and had to be taken to hospital. However, he refused, a police spokesman said. “The victim did not want to cooperate immediately and for the sake of his own health and the emergency to help him, he was transported to the hospital accompanied by our colleagues.”

The cyclist was found to be intoxicated and is believed to have lost control of his bicycle handlebars, police said. The victim has not been arrested and no police report has been drawn up. It is unknown how the man is now.
