Koninklijke HFC has done itself a disservice against the Rijnsburgse Boys in the title race. They lost 1-0 at home this afternoon, as a result of which leader Katwijk is out of sight. AFC and Jong FC Volendam also went down.
Furhgill Zeldenrust scored the only goal of the game in the 54th minute. The Haarlem-squad then tried, but the best opportunities were for number five in the ranking. The match was halted for a while after a disturbance between spectators at the cafeteria.
Because Katwijk won 3-1 against ASWH, the gap between HFC and the number one in the ranking has increased to nine points. Number three HHC Hardenberg beat TEC and came within one point of the Koninklijke. There are still five games to go in the second division.
AFC and Jong FC Volendam also lose home game
AFC went down surprisingly 3-0 at home in Amsterdam against low flyer GVVV. Adham El Idrissi, Byron Burgering and Lars ten Teije scored the goals at Sportpark Goed Enough. Despite the loss, AFC remains sixth with 45 points. That is eight less than Royal HFC.
In Volendam, things went wrong for FC Volendam’s promises in the final phase. At that time it was 2-2 thanks to two goals from both Koen Blommenstijn (Jong Volendam) and Floris van der Linden (Spakenburg). Wimilio Vink, Robin Eindhoven and Vince Gino Dekker decided the match in the last fifteen minutes: 2-5. The Volendammers remain fifteenth.
