FC Volendam ended the season with a draw. In the last minute, Het Nieuwe Oranje came alongside FC Eindhoven: 2-2. A wonderful result, because the North Hollanders were 2-0 behind shortly after the break and did not deliver the best game.
Volendam was immediately out of the game. Within seven minutes, that was punished by FC Eindhoven, the number three in the ranking. Barnabas Racz put Sleegers alone in front of Filip Stankovic, after which the club’s top scorer scored easily.
Enough were possible for the 0-2 in the first half, but the attackers of FC Eindhoven were sloppy in the completion. Boy Deul seemed to score against FC Volendam, but the midfielder made hands and was given a yellow card by referee Rob Dieperink.
Another quick goal
The eel farmers were not awake at the start of the second half either. Again a lot of space was given away and for the second time Sleegers took advantage. After a pass from Valentino Vermeulen, the striker simply hit. The people from Brabant then took the gas back with a view to the play-offs and trainer Rob Penders took some regulars to the side.
The highlight of the match came after an hour. A cross from left back Derry John Murkin was brilliantly completed by Gaetano Oristanio. The Italian scored with an unparalleled bicycle kick from about twelve meters.

In the last twenty minutes, substitute Mitchel van Rosmalen hit the bar on behalf of Eindhoven, Robert Mühren shot just wide and Stankovic got a public change. It eventually became 2-2 in the 91st minute when a shot from distance by Daryl van Mieghem went into the goal through a defender. As a result, the Volendam team still ended the season somewhat well, although the game shown was lousy.
After 38 matches FC Volendam has accumulated 75 points. Champion FC Emmen ends on 83 points. FC Eindhoven came in third with a season total of 71 points.
