“What should have been a fun night at the Hollywood Bowl turned into a fiasco when the performance was interrupted by suspect Isaiah Lee taking the stage to assault Dave Chappelle. The suspect was believed to be carrying a weapon and this should be punished,” Feuer said, adding “that ensuring public safety is taken extremely seriously.”
Lee is charged with committing unlawful physical contact, possessing a weapon with intent to commit a crime, unauthorized access to a stage during a performance, and committing an act that delays the show and interrupts the performer during his act.
Lee’s motive is still unclear. His older brother Aaron is also still in the dark about what happened. “As far as I know, Isaiah has nothing against Dave Chappelle. I do know that he has a lot of transgender friends, so maybe that could have spurred him on. He does have a history of mental problems, but that has never led to such outbursts.”
Chappelle made a number of comments about the transgender community in his latest Netflix special, which caused quite a bit of commotion.
