Immediately after the two minutes of silence and the national anthem, 19-year-old Tieme de Laat from Empel spoke on Dam Square on Wednesday evening. He honored his great-grandfather, resistance hero Henk van der Pas, during the National Commemoration. As a ‘neighbour of Kamp Vught’ he did everything to make life more bearable for the prisoners in the camp. Tieme introduced the whole of the Netherlands to his great-grandfather with an impressive speech.
