Today, Italian and world football remembers and pays homage to Grande Torino, 73 years after the Superga tragedy that transferred one of the strongest teams of all time from the plane of history to the dimension of legend.
Turin stops between prayers, ceremonies, songs, poems and theatrical performances. It will be a long day, it will end late in the evening with the grenade lighting of the Mole Antonelliana and the main bridges over the Po in the city center.
The first official moment at 11.30 with the official commemoration at the Monumental Cemetery on the graves of many of those unfortunate players. At the cemetery there is a large representation of Turin, with the managers and athletes of the nursery, some historical flags such as Renato Zaccarelli, the mayor of the city Stefano Lo Russo and many relatives of the victims, such as Franco Ossola, son of the homonymous striker of the Grande Turin. At 12.30 the Juric team will train with open doors in Philadelphia, then from 16 on the Superga hill the crowd will return after the two years of pandemic: after 16 solemn mass in the Basilica of Superga, to follow the reading of the names of the 31 fallen under the Tombstone.
