Swift and ruthless: “omicron” is advancing on Russia

According to the operational headquarters, there have been 29,230 more cases of coronavirus in Russia over the past day. The number of confirmed cases overall this week has increased by a third compared to the previous seven days. The number of regions where infection with the omicron strain is recorded is also growing. Today it was confirmed in the Pskov and Sverdlovsk regions.

Impetuous and ruthless Omicron continues its march across Russia. Every day there is a new region on the list. Now there are several dozen such red dots on the map. Today, a new strain was found in 15 residents of the Pskov region, including two children, four positive tests – in Sverdlovsk.

Nearly 30,000 new cases have been identified for knocking in the country. The numbers are growing, and the peak of the pandemic has not yet passed, according to the representative of the World Health Organization in Russia. She spoke about this on the air of the youtube channel “Soloviev Live”.

“There is now evidence that “omicron” less seriousthan previous strains, but this does not mean that it is not serious. Coronavirus causes very serious diseases,” says Melita Vujnovic.

Novosibirsk has developed a test system capable of detecting “omicron”. It will help scientists determine in an hour if there is a new strain in the sample. The sensitivity of the test is over 97 percent.

“We get two results: there is a coronavirus or not a coronavirus, if there is an omicron or not an omicron,” says Evgeny Pechkovsky, molecular biologist, director of the development company.

The treatment protocol depends on the specific virus strain. Therefore, it is important for the doctor to know what he is dealing with. This will allow you to accurately select the most effective treatment. And that means getting the patient on their feet faster.

Lyubov Malyazina has a steel character. She suffered an illness and … she will celebrate her 102nd birthday at home. The pensioner came to the Penza hospital with her daughter and her husband – the whole family fell ill. Saved promptly asking for help.

“The fact that the patient applied immediately when she developed symptoms, the fact that she did not independently engage in treatment, which, unfortunately, many are now doing,” says Marina Pyanova, head of the infectious boxing department No. 7 of the Penza Regional center for specialized medical care.

The regions are preparing for a surge in the incidence due to “omicron”. New places are being set up in hospitals, and additional anti-epidemic measures are being taken.

In Crimea, almost one and a half hundred new cases per day. The region returns to digital certificates from Monday. The check-in system will operate in cafes, shopping centers, cinemas, SPAs and other public places. There is also a ban on any public events.

Another round-the-clock vaccination point is being opened in the Khabarovsk Territory. In the region, both components of the vaccine have already received more than half a million people, collective immunity at the level of 70%. But this is not enough. The region is preparing for the fifth wave of covid. In anticipation of the Omicron strain, the Ministry of Health is considering the possibility of increasing the number of beds in hospitals to four thousand beds.

“Well, this is a colossal load. These are people – they have been working for the second year, well, they just work for wear and tear,” says Elena Koreshkova, deputy chief physician of the City Hospital No. 7 for outpatient services.

So far, only a vaccine can protect against a severe course of the disease. In the Tver region, vaccinations are given to expectant mothers starting from the 22nd week. Primarily this is Sputnik V. Russia has already handed over to the World Health Organization all the documents for its registration.

“As for Sputnik, I have good news. On December 30, the Russian Direct Investment Fund provided WHO with all the documentation that was required,” said Melita Vujnovic, WHO Representative in Russia.

In order for a drug to be approved, it is necessary to check the technological processes. Such inspections are expected to take place as early as February.
