“Block the price of basic goods such as flour, pasta and potatoes and reduce the fuel price to a maximum of 1.40 euros per liter.” That is the appeal of PVDA chairman Raoul Hedebouw in his May 1 speech. According to Hedebouw, the costs for the intervention must be paid by the “speculators and war profiteers” via a special levy on the surplus profits of multinationals.
