“No chance” at VfL Wolfsburg? Marmoush receives criticism from Schäfer

Complaint from VfL

Marcel Schäfer from VfL Wolfsburg has criticized Omar Marmoush, who is still on loan at VfB Stuttgart, for statements about his future. “He has a contract. Point. That’s why I can’t quite understand one or the other sentence,” Schäfer said at a press conference on Thursday. According to reports from “Kicker” and “Bild”, the 23-year-old Egyptian had complained about too little playing time with the Wolfsburg professionals and left his future open from the summer. He still has a year’s contract with Lower Saxony (until the summer of 2023) and will return in the summer, “but who knows what will happen,” he said.

His dream is said to be the Premier League. Marmoush said (quoted via “Bild”): “In Wolfsburg I didn’t get a chance to show myself for a longer period of time. Now I’m with VfB and I really want to stay up there.” According to the newspaper, the offensive man, who has already been successfully loaned to FC St. Pauli, is being watched by Arsenal and Tottenham from London. VfL manager Schäfer replied to his comment: “You can’t say that he didn’t have a chance, but like every other player in our squad he had his chance to impose himself on the coach for the starting eleven.” Schäfer emphasized the loan was successful, one is looking forward to the return and: “He has a contract that should not only be binding for us, but also for him.”

Nine points separate the Lower Saxony before the third to last matchday from the relegation rank and VfB Stuttgart, whom they meet in the away game on Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky). After beating FSV Mainz 05 5-0, VfL is in twelfth place in the table. According to “Bild”, a contract extension with Marmoush is not currently desired by the player.
