The futsal players of FC Marlène from Heerhugowaard have won the North Holland derby against ‘t Veerhuys from Hoorn 6-5. Jeroen de Groot’s team led 3-0, but Veerhuys fought back nicely.
Najib Taki’s team came back to 3-3, but still went into the locker room 4-3 behind. In the second half it remained tense in Heerhugowaard. The home team ran out to 6-4, but ‘t Veerhuys didn’t give in and came back to 6-5. Marlène pulled the longest straw.
Feast of Errors
“The mistakes make it a spectacle. It was also a spectacle because the margin remained so small, which made it exciting until the end,” said Marlène trainer De Groot. ‘t Veerhuys trainer Taki: “Mistakes are part of this game. Whoever makes the fewest mistakes and punishes them wins the game. I wouldn’t call it an error fest, but a spectacle.”
