He saved the best for the rescue! Striker Davie Selke (27) shot Hertha after a great cross from Plattenhardt with a dream goal to make it 1-0 against Stuttgart (2-0) on the road to victory.
Selke is happy about his third goal of the season: “An outstanding ball from Platte, which I caught well. The most important goal of my Hertha career.”
Selke continued: “I don’t have to say how important the win was. This victory is a giant step in the relegation battle. Compliments how everyone put their hearts into it, it shows that we are a team. This win gives us all a huge push!”
Hertha are now four and six points ahead in the relegation battle in 16th and 17th place.
Also because Selke was involved in Suat Serdar’s 1-0 winning goal in Augsburg a week ago with a so-called pre-assist (Selke passed the ball to Marco Richter, who provided the assist).

Selke is one of the winners of the change of coach, exploded under coach Felix Magath!
The Hertha coach says: “Davie Selke was already a key player in Augsburg for the three points. And that’s exactly how he scored a goal against Stuttgart and worked a lot. Unfortunately he had to leave injured.”
In the 78th minute, Selke, who had run a lot (8.73 kilometers), had to pull out with cramps in his thighs.
That’s why Magath is now thinking about the double lead Selke/Belfodil (arrived in the 63rd minute, scored to make it 2-0 in stoppage time) to relieve the hard-working attacker.
Magath: “You could see that Davie would get along better with a partner. From my point of view, both strikers go well together and could be a couple in the future.”
