Next top club wants Manuel Akanji

After the commitment of Niklas Süle, who switched from FC Bayern to BVB in the summer, there are signs of Manuel Akanji leaving Borussia Dortmund. So far, Manchester United has been considered the most promising candidate when it comes to courting the Swiss, but recently an Italian heavyweight seems to be getting involved in poker.

A few weeks before the end of the season, it is still unclear whether Manuel Akanji will still be part of the Borussia Dortmund squad in the coming season. With the black and yellow, the central defender only has one contract that is valid until 2023, an extension is now considered unlikely.

The “Bild” recently reported that the 26-year-old is said to have rejected a second offer from second in the table to extend his working paper. BVB could only collect a reasonable transfer fee if there was a summer change.

A possible prospect is said to be Manchester United, where Ralf Rangnick is currently interim coach but will soon be replaced by Dutchman Erik ten Hag. According to information from the Italian journalist and transfer expert Rudy Galetti, Juventus Turin is also one of the applicants.

For the Bianconeri, however, Akanji has so far only been considered as a plan B. Desired player Antonio Rüdiger is said to be in agreement with Real Madrid.

BVB: No clear commitment from Manuel Akanji yet

Akanji himself has not let his cards be looked at so far.

“I’m currently fully focused on Dortmund. We’ll see what happens in the future,” said Akanji recently on “Sky”. “I’m really happy to play here in the team. I think I have an important role and I want to perform to the end. And then we’ll see how it goes in the summer.”

Dortmund have already signed Niklas Süle for the new season on the defensive. The central defender comes from FC Bayern on a free transfer. Agreement is also said to have been reached with Nico Schlotterbeck (SC Freiburg).
