“Deeply impressed by Vision”
Manchester United are starting the 2022/23 season with Erik ten Hag as their new head coach. This was officially announced by the “Red Devils” on Thursday. The 52-year-old Dutchman comes from Ajax Amsterdam and, subject to the issuance of a work visa, will receive a contract with his new employer until June 2025 with an option for a further year. Ten Hag thus replaces Ralf Rangnick, who had temporarily taken over Man United and will remain with the Premier League club as an advisor.
“Over the past four years at Ajax, Erik ten Hag has proven to be one of the most exciting and successful coaches in Europe. He is known for his team’s attractive, attacking football and his commitment to youth,” said Man United director of football John Murtough. “In our discussions with Erik leading up to this appointment, we were deeply impressed by his long-term vision to bring Manchester United back to the level where we want to compete and by his drive and determination to achieve that,” said Murtough.

Ten Hag meanwhile said: “It is a great honor to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am really looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead. I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am determined to build a team capable of achieving the success it deserves.” It will be difficult, “Ajax after these incredible years to leave and I can assure our fans that I will be fully focused on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I join Manchester United.”
