Largest cocaine catch ever in the Netherlands: man (29) from Den Bosch arrested

A 29-year-old man from Den Bosch was arrested on Wednesday in a major drug investigation. His arrest is part of a series of raids in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Paraguay. In total, dozens of suspects have been arrested.

The reason for the raids is the largest cocaine seizure ever in the Netherlands. In February last year, 23,000 kilos of cocaine were discovered in the ports of Antwerp and Hamburg. The drugs had the Netherlands as their final destination. The total value of the cargo was 600 million euros.

At the time, a 29-year-old man from Vlaardingen was arrested. He has since been sentenced to more than four years in prison for smuggling drugs. Meanwhile, the investigation continued in the background. That resulted in raids in several countries on Wednesday. In our province, the police raided buildings in Den Bosch and Fijnaart.

‘Major suspect’
A 29-year-old man from Den Bosch is one of the three suspects arrested in our country. According to the Telegraph it concerns Samir B. He would be the main suspect in the case. A spokesperson for the National Unit would not confirm this. He does say that the resident of Bossche is an ‘important suspect in the investigation’.

Footage on YouTube shows heavily armed officers breaking into a house. Among other things, the Bearcat was used. This is an armored vehicle used in this type of raid.

3.5 million euros in cash was seized on Wednesday. Three million euros of that amount was found in a house in Schiedam. Four houses have been seized, including a luxury villa in Spain with a value of five million euros.

Drugs in cans with construction putty
A large part of the coke was found on February 12 last year in the port of Hamburg. It involved 16,000 kilos of coke, hidden in three containers that came from Paraguay. The drugs were hidden in cans of construction putty.

7,000 kilos of coke was intercepted in the port of Antwerp. This batch of drugs was hidden in eleven containers with pineapple, squid and wood. The containers were on their way from Panama.
