Even the best Easter weekend comes to an end. What remains in the green areas – unfortunately that’s the way it is in Berlin – is a lot of rubbish.
In many parks there was a hustle and bustle well into the night on the sunny holidays. You saw picnic blanket after picnic blanket, so many an open-air party.

On Tuesday morning then unfortunately the garbage hangover. Although the BSR and many parks departments had already sent their employees out at dawn to do a thorough cleaning, paper plates, pizza boxes, empty bottles and dangerous heaps of broken glass piled up.

Especially the James-Simon-Park between Museum Island and Hackescher Markt was a huge garbage dump after a wild night of partying.

“But it doesn’t look any better in other parks either,” groaned an employee of the city cleaning department when he and his colleagues started the early shift at 6 a.m.
