AZ has received the first reinforcements for next season. Mees de Wit comes over from PEC Zwolle. The 24-year-old left wing defender has signed for five years in Alkmaar.
According to The Telegraph AZ pays 2.3 million euros for De Wit. Due to possible bonuses, that amount can rise to three million euros. This would make the Amsterdam-born footballer the most expensive outgoing transfer in the club history of PEC Zwolle. That record is currently held by Ryan Thomas, who left for PSV in 2018 for two and a half million euros.
Revelation
De Wit is having a good season at PEC Zwolle, where he played competitor Kenneth Paal early on. This season he played 23 Eredivisie matches for the team from Overijssel. In this he scored four goals, two of which in the away match against AZ (3-2).
