De Hont has been on stage for more than sixty years. In the late fifties he started his career in the Amsterdam band The Apron Strings. Rob de Nijs was a singer with that band for a while. After De Nijs left the band with his brother, De Hont founded ZZ and De Maskers. Bob Bouber became a singer. In the mid-sixties the band had success with pop classics such as La ComparsaDracula and I’ve had enough of you

After ZZ and De Maskers split up, De Hont played in the band September for a while before joining Freek de Jonge and Bram Vermeulen. Together with Thé Lau, among others, De Hont formed the backing band of the cabaret duo. Later he was also a member of De Toekomst, Vermeulen’s backing band.

Furthermore, De Hont was a much sought-after session musician. He collaborated with artists such as Jan Rot, Fay Lovsky, Frank Boeijen and Boudewijn de Groot. During his farewell concert, the guitarist, who is celebrating his eightieth birthday this year, will perform one more time with De Maskers.
