Villarreal wins after European success of Getafe

Villarreal appeared to have recovered sufficiently from the wear and tear of four days earlier against Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League. The brand new semi-finalist of the premier class of European club football won the away game against Getafe (2-1) and thus gained a firmer grip on seventh place in La Liga.

Gerard Moreno opened the scoring for Villarreal in the 7th minute and prepared for his teammate Manu Trigueros’ goal in the 16th minute. Enes Ünal scored in the 63rd minute for Getafe. The attacker played football for NAC Breda and FC Twente in the past. Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld started on the bench but was allowed to fill in for Villarreal after an hour.

Villarreal knocked out Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League on Tuesday. The club drew 1-1 in Munich. A week earlier, Villarreal won the home game against the Bundesliga leader (1-0). Danjuma Groeneveld scored the winning goal.
