FC Schalke | Farewell in summer? S04 star reveals his plans for the future

Thomas Ouwejan is one of the winners of the season at second division soccer club FC Schalke 04. Came on loan after the Gelsenkirchen side were relegated last summer and the Dutchman is convincing on the left flank. Now Ouwejan has spoken about his future plans.

Opposite the Dutch portal “Voetbalzone” the left-back made it clear that he would be only too happy to take the next step together with the Royal Blues. At FC Schalke 04, this logically means making the fastest possible return to the Bundesliga.

A whereabouts of the 25-year-old is even contractually fixed in the event of promotion. Then a purchase obligation would apply, Schalke would transfer two million euros to AZ Alkmaar for the fixed transfer.

The situation will be more complicated if the miners give up their current lead in the Bundesliga 2 in the last five games.

FC Schalke takes on SV Darmstadt on Sunday

“If we get promoted, I’ll stay, if we don’t get promoted, I have to talk to the club a lot and see what’s best for me,” Ouwejan is keeping his future open if FC Schalke misses their return to the Bundesliga.

For the regular player, however, one thing is certain: “In my ideal image, I’ll go to the Bundesliga with this club, that’s how I pictured it myself.”

Ouwejan has quickly become one of the favorites of the Schalke crowd, convincing with high intensity and a strong attacking urge. He started 25 games this season, scoring three goals for S04.

Most recently, however, the left foot was out with a calf injury, which will force him to watch next weekend. FC Schalke face fourth-placed SV Darmstadt on Sunday (from 1:30 p.m.) and other important points for promotion.
