In the second group game against Ivory Coast, the DFB team found it much more difficult than in their 7-1 opener against Curaçao. Ivory Coast was aggressive, quick in transition and took a 1-0 lead through Franck Kessié in the 30th minute. Germany seemed to be out of ideas at times and had problems with the pace of the Ivorians.
Deniz Undav made the difference after coming on as a substitute. His two goals (68th minute and in stoppage time) led to the final score and early entry into the round of 16.
