A Thai woman paid $1,200 for BTS VIP tickets – and got nothing. How scammers rob fans.

Seeing your favorite artist live once in your life is a dream many people have. But especially for superstars, the rush for a coveted ticket is often so high that most people go away empty-handed. What remains is the search on the secondary market with increasingly horrendous prices. But even those who are willing to pay this price for their favorite act run the risk of being cheated.

Fraud on the secondary market: One case representative of many

The “BBC” has now publicized a case of a Thai woman that is symbolic for many. In this real-life drama, the protagonist Vevee plays the victim of a scam that many suffer. She really wanted to get a ticket for the BTS tour, but due to the high demand, after waiting for hours in front of the computer, she was only told that all tickets were already sold out. As she looked around on the secondary market, she spotted an ad on X for four VIP tickets totaling $1,200. The price would be about twice her salary, but Vevee decided to pay and received no further response…

But it’s not just the secondary market that is a land of milk and honey for fraudsters. Supposed help with virtual queues is also often offered as a scam: once paid, the alleged helpers disappear without a trace. According to BBC, desperate fans in Southeast Asia lost more than $100,000 to scammers. The market for such fraudsters is now enormous, as is the demand for tickets – according to the BBC, it exceeds the supply 15 times.

Class action lawsuit in Thailand

In Thailand there is now a lawsuit from 126 fans who are said to have fallen for exactly this offer from a helper in a queue. They were promised exclusive access at lower prices, but received nothing except an emptier bank account.

The BTS Army is buying everything away

BTS’ fan base is huge, especially in Asia, and the self-proclaimed “Army” will do anything to get tickets for their boy band. The “BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG” is expanding the tour dates, but the army buys everything away within a few seconds – as if it were a Supreme drop from 2014.

All official tickets have already been allocated for the German dates on July 11th and 12th, 2026 in Munich. If you still want to get hold of some, you should only look on the official secondary market websites of the ticket providers.
