The Toppers are no longer as popular as before, so they will only be in the Amsterdam Arena twice this year. And it just happens to be tropically warm. “It looks like a sauna!”, people complain.
Well above 30 degrees and with tens of thousands of people standing and sitting in a huddle in the Amsterdam Arena: it was not a great success at De Toppers last night. People have been complaining on social media about the temperature in the stadium and how incredibly uncomfortable it was. And the gentlemen on stage also suffered from it.
Sauna
One Alexandra really hated it. “Sitting for five minutes in 38/39 degrees at the Toppers, terrible!”, she writes TikTok.
Jelena says that she threw away her cards for that reason. “We didn’t even go, we were right at the top. Don’t do that with that heat. 😂”
Gin: “It looks like we were sitting right next to you, it was indeed intense. 🥵 Actually not possible 🫣.”
Pressure cooker
Pat speaks of a ‘pressure cooker’ and a certain Melissa: “That has been the case before. Even once on NOS that so many people had become unwell. The roof was opened the next day.”
Hester: “It was super hot.”
Brigitte: “And then you have a stadium with a roof that can be opened but is not allowed.”
Like an otter
Music journalist Richard van de Crommert was also there. “It is very hot in the stadium. There is a steam pan. Taking a fan with you is not an excessive luxury. René Froger sweats like an otter, but keeps his jacket on for a long time,” he writes in The Telegraph.
And it just didn’t stop. “The shows are long. Stopping is not in their blood. After three hours the performance is still going on, as if it never ends.”
