Miss Finland semi-finalist Kukka-Maaria Halme27, casually announced to his parents that he was dating women. The reception of the revelation was equally relaxed, as the parents started asking about Halmee’s dating partners.
– I define myself as a lesbian because I am mainly interested in women. I don’t think those definitions are that strict or serious.

When she was younger, Halme met men and even dated them. It took Halme a while to accept that he is really interested in women.
– Of course, people are wonderful and I have genuinely liked them as people. But something has been missing from it.
Halme started living authentically from the moment she came out of the closet. Now Halme has been in a relationship with his female partner for a long time. Currently, the couple is planning a future together.
– We both want to focus on our own careers and have always supported each other 100 percent. Of course, at some point we also want to add to the family, but at the moment we have a lovely baby dachshund – he is our joint baby.
Halme is prepared for the fact that her sexual orientation may receive comments for and against from Miss Finland fans.
– I wondered for years, Can I pursue my dreams because of that, because I can’t date a man. That’s a big enough reason for me to act as an inspiration to young people, that you can openly be yourself and still pursue your dreams, even if they don’t belong to a certain stereotype.
