Due to the risk of heavy thunderstorms, the KNMI has issued an orange code for the province of Drenthe. The weather institute warns of heavy gusts of wind, hail and a lot of rain in a short time.

Code orange applies to the entire province until at least 2 a.m. tonight.

During thunderstorms, (heavy) wind gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour are possible. The hailstones can have a diameter of two to four centimeters.

Code orange applies to the whole of the Netherlands, except for the provinces of Zeeland, South Holland, North Brabant and Limburg.

Due to the heat, code yellow was already in effect today. In addition, the national heat plan is also in force.
