Angelo Stiller has been VfB Stuttgart’s most sought-after player for months. An exit clause allows the midfielder to leave the Swabians this summer. Manchester United and Real Madrid, among others, were recently traded as potential buyers. According to a media report, there is a “clear trend” as to what will happen next for the ex-Bayern talent.
Angelo Stiller’s contract with VfB Stuttgart expires in the summer of 2028, but a clause should enable the 25-year-old to leave the Swabians for a payment of around 36.5 million euros. Stuttgart, as reported by “Sport Bild”, among others, should have the option to buy this contractual structure from Stiller for two million euros.
In addition, according to “Bild”, the clause is not valid for the entire transfer summer. According to the tabloid’s information, the expiry date of the option depends on the performance of the DFB selection at the 2026 World Cup. The sooner the German national team has to give up with the VfB kicker, the sooner the clause expires, according to the report.
Since the Swabians have not yet received any offers for the midfield engine, it is quite conceivable that they will stay beyond the summer. The online portal “Absolut Fußball” even goes one step further and reports that the “clear trend” is that Stiller will also wear the jersey with the chest ring in the new season. There is currently no sign of a transfer, they say.
VfB Stuttgart has two Stiller successors in mind
However, VfB is already prepared for the international player to leave. The “kicker” recently named two candidates who could replace Stiller at the Swabians if the worst comes to the worst. These are Casper Jander (FC Southampton) and Kodai Sano (NEC Nijmegen).
VfB Stuttgart already had Jander in mind last summer when his departure from 1. FC Nürnberg became apparent. However, the club initially asked for a transfer fee of 15 million euros for the 23-year-old. VfB reportedly offered around half. Ultimately, Southampton transferred a rumored twelve million euros to Nuremberg.
Jander is now back on the market, writes the trade magazine – and is once again in VfB’s sights. This also applies to Kodai Sano, Kaishu Sano’s brother (1. FSV Mainz 05), who is three years older. The 22-year-old did not manage to get the ticket for Japan’s World Cup squad. However, Nijmegen should still demand a whopping 20 million euros for him.
